Barcelona, November 5, 2026. The Barcelona Arbitration Court (TAB) has appointed Susana Ferrer Delgadillo as the institution’s new president. Ferrer becomes the first woman to preside over the TAB and leads a renewed Board of Directors that embarks on this new phase committed to furthering the Court’s activity and reinforcing the role of arbitration as a specialized dispute resolution mechanism.

The new president recognized the work carried out by her predecessors in office and by the various governing boards that, over the years, have contributed to consolidating the Court and its operations.

In this new term, the TAB aims to continue promoting arbitration and expanding its awareness and use across the corporate, institutional, and third sectors, fostering an agile and effective dispute resolution mechanism characterized by high specialization and practitioners with deep expertise in the subjects under dispute.

Susana Ferrer Delgadillo stated: “I assume this responsibility with a firm commitment to the institution and great enthusiasm to address the challenges ahead. We want to keep working to raise awareness of and promote arbitration as a practical, agile, and specialized tool for resolving disputes.”

A Career Linked to Public Law and the Institutional Sector

Susana Ferrer Delgadillo is currently the partner in charge of the Public Law, Regulatory, and Compliance practice at EY Abogados in Barcelona, advising public and private entities across various fields of public and regulatory law.

Holding a degree in Law, she prepared for the State Attorneys’ Corps (Cuerpo de Abogados del Estado) competitive examinations between 1998 and 2003 and completed an official Master’s Degree in Advanced Legal Studies, specializing in Public Law, at the University of Barcelona. She also earned a Specialization Diploma in Arbitration in 2019.

Before joining EY Abogados, she headed the Public and Regulatory Law Department at the Barcelona office of Gómez-Acebo & Pombo and was previously a partner at Coronas Advocats. She began her career in the Legal Advisory Department of the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Government of Catalonia (Generalitat de Catalunya).

Her professional career has run in tandem with extensive institutional and academic activity. She served as Vice Dean and member of the Governing Board of the Barcelona Bar Association (ICAB), where her duties also included directing the legal journal Món Jurídic and chairing the Sustainable Development Goals Commission. She has also lectured in the Master’s in Access to the Legal Profession at ISDE and the Master’s in Advanced Public Procurement at the University of Barcelona.

In the diplomatic arena, from 2022 to 2026 she served as Honorary Consul of Ireland in Barcelona.

Rigor, Specialization, and Proximity

The core priorities of this new phase will be defined jointly with the incoming Board of Directors. The president noted, however, that this period will be defined by rigor, proximity, and openness to new ideas and initiatives.

Key objectives include broadening the reach and application of arbitration in areas where it provides a specialized, agile, and effective dispute resolution alternative, serving corporate, institutional, and third-sector stakeholders alike.

To this end, the TAB seeks to maintain open dialogue with the legal, business, and institutional communities, review incoming proposals, and explore new avenues of collaboration to reinforce the culture of arbitration and the standing of the Barcelona Arbitration Court.
