Volume of Activity
During 2024, 73 cases were administered. Of these, 36 are still ongoing, 22 awards (laudos) have been issued, and 37 arbitrations reached final settlement/liquidation.
Types of Contract Disputes and Subject Matter
The main disputes submitted to arbitration were:

Typology and Language
The preference for arbitration at law (arbitraje de derecho) over equity arbitration (arbitraje de equidad) is confirmed. However, there has been an increase in equity arbitration (9% of the total, with two cases), breaking last year’s trend where none were recorded. Regarding scope, the percentages of international arbitration versus domestic arbitration remain stable, with a clear predominance of the internal market. The primary language used was Spanish, although the submission of evidence and documents in English and Russian has become normalized.
Value of Disputes
The TAB reaffirms its capacity to handle both large-scale disputes and small-claim proceedings:

Distribution: The bracket between €20,001 and €600,001 represents half of the cases.

Trend: An increase in cases exceeding €1,500,000 has been observed compared to the previous year.

The adjusted average duration for proceedings resulting in an award was 10.7 months.

Ordinary Procedure: Duration remains steady, though the time dedicated to pre-arbitral processing has been reduced.

Fast-track/Abbreviated Procedure: Averaged 8.3 months, a lower figure than in the previous year.
Execution and Challenging of Awards

Voluntary compliance: 75% of awards are executed without judicial intervention.

Judicial enforcement: Remains at 17%.

Challenges: 8% of awards were challenged before the High Court of Justice (TSJ) of Catalonia. It is worth noting that, in the last three years, none of the challenged awards have been declared null and void.
The report also highlights that the presence of women as arbitrators is still far from parity with males, maintaining a situation similar to last year.
